who, me?

My photo
betty
I'm a random resident of Newport. A graying empty nester ... get it? And this is my take on what goes on in the so-called City By The Sea. Off season, especially. Past peak.

Scroll down, down, down for the answer. If you want to, that is. No pressure.

i had no idea there were so many newports in the world ....

Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, Scotland, Wales and in the following states: Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. There are also a handful of fictional Newports. Three Navy ships named USS Newport. A car. A type of cheese. A French airplane manufacturer. And, of course, a brand of cigarettes. (Do they still make Newports? Pretty sure they do.) Anyway, my primary concern — geographically speaking — is Newport, Rhode Island (USA).

Must say, I'm partial to this image by my (much) younger sister J. Maybe someday she'll teach me about filters, special effects, antique qualities and the like.

where am i?

Third Beach Road, at the end toward Third Beach itself and Sachuest Point. The roads in that area, as well as Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, have been closed since Superstorm Sandy — meaning the options for winter walks were significantly reduced! — but repairs are underway in preparation for the coming season.

comments? questions?

I'm pretty much always around at newportbetty@gmail.com and/or Facebook but not Twitter. Go figure.
